Apartheid Education
By Rachel Hernandez and Cecelia Tannous-Taylor
During the period of time in South Africa when the government was controlled by white people who took away the rights of the black south africans who had been living there for longer, The education for the black and colored south africans was very bad, compared to the education that the white south africans got. In fact, it was not a good education even when it was not compared to the education for whites.
During apartheid, the whites had all of the power. That meant that if the government wanted to be racist and take the rights of having a good education away from the black people, then that's what they would do. The black people had to obey them, o
therwise they would get their jobs, homes and possessions taken away from them, and probably get put in jail. If adults who had black children went to school, the parents had to pay fees for their books, their school fees, and sometimes for their food and bed, and even then they wern't given as much as an education as the whites did.
